Angola
/ KAZA
Relevant to the KAZA initiative are the
provinces of Moxico and Cuando Cubango.
Cuando Cubango: this province derives its
name from the Cuando and Cubango rivers
which flow through the eastern and western
edges of the province.
The Cuando river (also known as Kwando)
begins in the highlands of Angola.
Flowing southeast, it forms the boundary of
Zambia and Angola before entering the
Caprivi strip of Namibia |
The
Cuando River
Some 10,000 years ago, the Cuando
continued south to lake Makgadikgadi.
Today the river turns east along the
border with Botswana and from this point
the river is known as the Linyanti river.
After flowing through a seasonal lake
and beyond Liambesi) the river is known
as the Chobe River - which then flows
into the Zambezi. |

Cameia
National Park
Cameia National park was established
as a game reserve in 1938 and proclaimed
a national park in 1957.
Much of the park consists of seasonally
inundated plains that form part of the
Zambezi river basin, with the northern
half of the park draining into the Chifumage river.
There are also extensive miombo woodlands,
similar to those in the Zambezi basin of
western Zambia.
No bird species list is available and little is
known about the birdlife of the park. |
