Zarafa Camp, overlooking the Zibadianja Lagoon, evokes a sense of old-style safari with
its four large, luxuriously appointed tents and a main area that is also under canvas. At
a maximum of eight guests, the emphasis is on individual hospitality and privacy. Each
generous tent and veranda is positioned under shady trees and comprises a spacious
bedroom, en-suite bathroom, a copper bath and shower as well as an outdoor shower and
your own private pool.
Lounge and dining facilities are shaded by giant broad-leafed trees with expansive views to
take in the passing wildlife. Activities are flexible to suit guests’interests and include day
and night game drives in custom-built 4x4 Toyota Land Cruisers. Short guided nature walks
from camp are offered. Abundant plains game can be found here including lechwe, kudu,
buffalo, zebra and giraffe followed by cheetah, wild dog, lion, elephant and leopard.
This is a camp where one does not have to go out on game drives to view wildlife…. there
is usually so much happening right out front of the camp. Zafara’s claim to fame however is
more than just its style and wonderful wildlife. It is totally “green”and is possibly the first
luxury safari camp that operates without a generator. Our solar farm of over 150 panels
supplies all the electricity we need to run the camp.
