Stanley's Concession

Intoduction - very good

This concession is adjacent to Maun, to the extreme east of the delta. It usually gets quite a weak flood and is therefore generally considered to be a dry safari area. Being so close to Maun does give the feeling of not really having reached the heart of the delta, but this is otherwise a pretty reasonable game area

Stanley's is one of the most eastern concessions in the Okavango and quite close in to Maun. It therefore has a less reliable flood than concessions further west and it does feel rather less wild, it being only a five minute flight from civilisation.

The area does have a decent reputation for dry game-viewing, particularly late flood, so around September October time.

There are two high quality camps here, which we tend to use quite rarely due to their location rather than their quality.

Baines Camp is the newer, smaller and higher specification facility, whilst Stanley's Camp is the original, simpler and large of the two.
