Stanley's CampIntoduction - very good Most guests are attracted to this A&K camp by its association with Grey Matters, a walking-with-elephants experience. Although this is by no means an extreme example, we are on the whole against this whole pet-the-animals kind of thing. In our opinion it detracts from an otherwise pretty good camp
Stanley's is one of the most eastern concessions in the Okavango and quite close in to Maun. It therefore has a less reliable flood than concessions further west and it does feel rather less wild, it being only a five minute flight from civilisation. The area does have a decent reputation for dry game-viewing, particularly late flood, so around September October time. There are two high quality camps here, which we tend to use quite rarely due to their location rather than their quality. Baines Camp is the newer, smaller and higher specification facility, whilst Stanley's Camp is the original, simpler and large of the two.
