Oddballs Camp

Intoduction - good - ( Desert and Delta ) info@Desert-Delta.com http://www.desert-delta.com/

With a capacity for forty guests, Oddballs a large camp which serves as a base for budget mokoro campout trips into the delta. The main camp itself is pretty simple, with dome tents on little raised decks and shared ablutions. The main selling points are the price and the fact that the camp does accept children of all ages

Oddballs Camp is located in a busy concession of the same name in the southeast of the Okavango Delta.

The camp is very large and basic by Okavango standards and functions primarily as an overnighting spot for guests going out on mokoro camping trips into the delta.

Oddballs really is borderline for us in terms of quality and safety. The main incentive to use it is that the camp accepts children of all ages, which is rare these days.

Xigera Mokoro Trail or Kanana Mokoro Trail are both more expensive than this, but are the real deal

Oddball’s is situated on the edge of Chief's Island, deep in the heart of the Okavango Delta. The camp is accessible by light aircraft only. On arrival you will be met at the airstrip and welcomed to the island. Accommodation is in 2mx 2m dome tents, fully equipped, and set on elevated wooden decks shaded by reed shelters. There are shared ablution facilities (including outdoor showers)

The bar and lounge area has comfortable seating, and a raised viewing deck overlooks the sweep of the delta – the perfect place to watch the sun set over the palms, and view the visiting wildlife.

There is a comfortable lounge area and a raised viewing platform right on the banks of the river. Hammocks are everywhere, and enable you to relax during the heat of the day whilst reading up on the wildlife and birds of the area, from Oddball's extensive library.

Activities are conducted by your own professional guide (a maximum of two guests per guide), a man of the delta, born and bred. He has a mokoro (dug-out canoe) in which he will take you to nearby islands, where you will walk to view game and the spectacular landscape that is the Okavango. It might also be possible to visit his village, meet the elders and perhaps his family

What sets Oddball's apart from other safari lodges is the setting, the informality and above all the legendary 'skull bar', where you will be regaled with adventure stories which are surely amongst the 'tallest' in Africa!

Subject to water levels, it is also possible to go camping in the area, on a Mokoro Trail – where the first and last nights at spent at Oddball’s itself. All equipment and provisions are packed into your mokoro as you set off with your guide for an unforgettable wilderness experience. Camping equipment is provided but you must bring your own sleeping bag.

Your Guide will find a suitable campsite on the banks of the river and build the fire for you. Whilst on Mokoro Trail your food will be provided but you will be responsible for its preparation.

The combination of Oddball’s and a Mokoro Trail is arguably the best way to experience the Delta, for the more adventurous
