Tubu Tree Camp

excellent Okavango Delta : NG25 : Jao Concession

Tubu is one of the newest camps in the delta and of great elegance and simplicity. This is the type of camp which will appeal to bush-orientated people who want comfort but not luxury. Usually this camp offers a good mix of wet and dry safari, although in periods of heavy flood the dry side can become rather restricted

Tubu is a lovely little camp on the excellent Jao Concession in the western Okavango Delta.

May to August the camp offers an excellent mix of wet and dry safari.

September to April the water levels are much lower and the camp concentrates mainly on dry safari, which means that a wetter camp will also be required in most trips.

Of the four camps on this concession Tubu Tree is the most focussed on the safari side of the experience, which makes it the first choice for most of our guests

Tubu Tree is a small camp built on the western side of Hunda Island, situated in the
Okavango’s Jao Concession. The camp is surrounded by diverse habitats ranging from dry
Kalahari sandveld to mopane and riverine forest on the edge of permanent waterways,
ensuring diverse and spectacular game viewing.
The camp is built in traditional style with five tents on raised wooden platforms, allowing
great views over the floodplains. Each tent has a private front deck, en-suite bathroom
facilities and an outdoor shower. The main dining and lounge areas and pool are also on
raised platforms and an outdoor pub area lies under the canopy of a large marula tree.
Activities include day and night game drives in open 4x4 vehicles. During the flood
season (normally May to late September), boating, fishing and mokoro trips are also
offered. Elephant, lion, zebra, red lechwe, giraffe, tsessebe and wildebeest can be seen
on the floodplains, while kudu, impala, leopard and bushbuck occur in the more densely
wooded areas.
