Kaparota Campsuperb Tragically Kaparota, the simplest and cheapest camp on the Vumbura Concession, was closed down in late 2003. We certainly felt that this camp had a greater sense of intimacy and raw bush spirit than any other in the area, making it the most suitable for a younger audience, but apparently the economics no longer added up. The camp remains available for private hire for groups of six or more guests. Kaparota Camp has both the wetland and savannah species of wildlife - Red Lechwe, Waterbuck, Hippos, Crocodiles, as well as Sable, Kudu, Wildebeest and Tsessebe, who roam the open plains. Herds of Buffalo and Elephant occur here, along with the predators - Lion, Leopard, Wild Dog and Cheetah. Guests who enjoy their birding will love the combination of all the Okavango water "specials" with acacia and dry woodland species. Birding in the area is incredible, and species include White Headed Vulture, African Hawk Eagle, Roufusnaped Lark, Meyers Parrot, and Pels fishing owl. Kaparota Camp is situated on a tranquil and shady island in the Vumbura Community Development Concession. The island is covered with huge sausage trees, and a small channel runs in front of the camp. Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Elephant and Red Lechwe are some of the game that may be viewed.
