Kaza Parks Namibia

The Caprivi is renowned for its freshwater angling and over 400 bird species.

Activities are diverse from sunset river cruises, photo safaris, swamp safaris, horseback trails, boating, mokoro trips and game viewing either on foot or in open vehicles.

For the more adventurous there are night crocodile spotting expeditions and camel safaris.

Accommodation in the Caprivi ranges from chalets, luxury lodges, hotels to budget

The heel of the Caprivi Strip contains a number of small game reserves of modest interest.

Namibia’s aridity explores the dramatic nature of space and stark beauty, whether through the enormous dunes of the Sand Sea of Sossusvlei, the dry riverbeds, flat-topped mountains and broad valleys of the Kunene region, or the salt pan and incredible wildlife of Etosha. Journeys to Namibia can get a glimpse of the country as a whole with these contrasts, or explore a specifi c area, such as the Namib Desert (the oldest desert on the planet) or the Skeleton Coast with its lonely shipwrecks and hundreds of thousands of seals and attendant birdlife. Life adapts to this harsh environment, and tracking a desert-adapted black rhino is an experience unique to this land.

There are two decent lodges in the area, which generally serve as stopovers for safaris overlanding through the Caprivi Strip. Lianshulu Lodge is inside the Mamili reserve, which it has virtually to itself. Susuwe Island Lodge is located inside the Mudumu reserve, closer to the main road through the strip.

We rarely put together trips which overland through the Caprivi and therefore have little reason to use these lodges, although we do sometimes use Lianshulu in combination with the fabulous Linyanti Kwando area across the river in Botswana, as part of an overland segment to Livingstone.
