Songwe Point Village

perched 120 metres/ 400 feet above the Zambezi Gorge, a short drive from Victoria Falls.

 

Songwe is steeped in archaeological history - with stone-age artifacts dating back 700 000 years having been found on the site.

Built to resemble a traditional village Songwe is ocated on a spectacular peninsular over the Zambezi gorge.

Accommodation

8x luxury traditional style huts, spread out in an oval pattern.

Each of these has been named after past chiefs of the Mukuni people.


The huts are light and airy and quite spacious with attractive traditional furniture as well as comfortable modern mattresses and mosquito nets.

Each hut has its own toilet and washbasin and there are four shower huts, two of which have an open fronted bath which is perched right on the edge of the gorge overlooking the Zambezi river.

 

 

Facilities & Services

Dinner is an unforgettable traditional evening meal in the ntantaala (central enclosure).
The evening culminates in celebratory songs and dances.

Visit to the nearby Mukuni Village.
This historical site is alleged to be 700 years old and includes a royal graveyard, ancient drums (believed to be magical) and the chieftain’s palace.
